Renwil.com Homepage MakeoverWith each annual campaign, Renwil "redecorates" its website homepage to match. Dictated by upper management, the homepage re-design was historically static, confused, and lacked empathy. Under new management since 2020, I requested to design a new structure for the homepage to improve the user experience and, in turn, boost sales.
Shown here are the preliminary working files for desktop and mobile versions of the new homepage, with inspiration images included. I could see that compared to well-designed responsive websites, we were nowhere near where we needed to be. I researched popular e-commerce websites, both B2B and B2C, and created this collage of widget ideas along with mobile-friendly versions. From there we narrowed down the selection of widgets, and the final design was executed by my teammate Rachael Seatvet. The new widgets took user empathy into consideration for the first time, with new content blocks such as "Featured Categories" (previously we showed all categories, and only that) and "How To Order" (a notoriously difficult process for new customers). We launched this new homepage along with our new product line in March 2021, and in that month we saw our highest monthly revenue ever. |
